Installation Recommendations
- Internal Dimensions: The top pane includes a black border, extending the external size by approximately 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (from upstand to upstand) for proper fitting. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires an internal opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand (timber framework) using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for optimal strength and precision.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Apply foam rope on top of the internal baton to balance weight and reduce glass stress. Seal the perimeter with Dowsil 791 black sealant for a watertight finish. Avoid acrylic sealants as they are incompatible with the glass structure.
- Flashing: Flashing must cover the full perimeter of the skylight. Each roll measures 7.5 metres and typically covers up to 6 metres of total perimeter, suitable for skylights up to 1000 x 2000 mm.
