Installation Recommendations
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border, extending the external dimensions by approximately 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an extra 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for a proper fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires an opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand (timber framework) using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timbers to ensure stability and precision.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Use foam rope over the internal baton to distribute load evenly and reduce stress on the glass. Apply Dowsil 791 black sealant for a watertight seal — avoid acrylic sealants as they are not compatible.
- Flashing: The flashing should wrap around the upstand to seal it completely. Each roll measures 7.5 metres — sufficient for skylights up to 6 metres in circumference (e.g., 1000 x 2000 mm units).
