Installation Guidance
For a secure, watertight, and professional finish, please follow these key recommendations:
- Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border that increases the overall external size by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: When preparing the aperture, allow an extra 10 mm internally from upstand to upstand. For instance, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires a 610 x 910 mm internal opening.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand (the timber frame supporting the skylight) using 2×1 or 2×2 inch timbers for stability and support.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Apply foam rope on top of the supporting baton to ensure an even weight distribution. Use Dowsil 791 black silicone sealant for a watertight perimeter. Do not use acrylic sealants, as they are incompatible with this product.
