Installation Recommendations
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border that extends the external dimensions by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an extra 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for an accurate fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires a 610 x 910 mm opening.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timbers to ensure a stable and secure framework.
- Foam Rope and Sealant: Apply foam rope on top of the internal support baton to balance glass weight and reduce stress. Seal the perimeter with Dowsil 791 black sealant for a watertight finish. Avoid acrylic sealants as they are not suitable for this product.
- Flashing: Wrap the flashing securely around the upstand to seal it against roof tiles. Each 7.5-metre roll covers approximately 6 metres of skylight perimeter (sufficient for a 1000 x 2000 mm skylight).
