Note: For skylights wider than one metre, it is recommended that the bottom pane of glass be thermally toughened for added strength and structural stability.

Installation Recommendations

• Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border, extending the external dimensions by approximately 200 mm in each direction.
• Creating the Opening: Allow an extra 10 mm internally (from upstand to upstand) for an accurate fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires a 610 x 910 mm opening.
• Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand (timber frame) using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for a secure and stable base.
• Foam Rope & Sealant: Install foam rope above the internal support baton to balance weight distribution and reduce stress on the glass. Apply Dowsil 791 black sealant to create a watertight perimeter. Avoid acrylic sealants, as they are not compatible.
• Flashing: Ensure flashing is applied around the entire upstand to seal the unit to your roof tiles. Flashing rolls are supplied in 7.5-metre lengths — one roll typically covers a skylight with a 6-metre perimeter (e.g. a 1000 x 2000 mm model).
