Installation Guidelines
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border, increasing the external dimensions by approximately 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (from upstand to upstand) to achieve an accurate fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires an opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand (timber framework) using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timbers for a secure and stable base.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Apply foam rope on top of the internal supporting baton to evenly distribute the skylight’s weight. Use Dowsil 791 black sealant to form a watertight perimeter — avoid acrylic sealants as they are incompatible.
- Flashing: Flashing must be installed around the entire upstand to seal the skylight to your roof tiles. Flashing rolls come in 7.5-metre lengths and typically cover up to 6 metres of perimeter for units such as a 1000 x 2000 mm skylight.
