Installation Guidelines
- Internal Dimensions: The top pane features a black border, extending the overall size by approximately 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for accurate fitting. For instance, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires an opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: Build the upstand (wooden framework) using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for secure installation and support.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Use foam rope above the internal support baton to balance the load and minimise glass stress. Seal with Dowsil 791 black sealant to ensure a watertight perimeter. Avoid acrylic sealants, as they are not compatible with our glass units.
- Flashing: Ensure flashing wraps around the entire perimeter of the skylight. Each 7.5-metre roll typically covers up to 6 metres of circumference — ideal for a 1000 x 2000 mm skylight.
