Installation Guidance
- Internal Dimensions: The top pane includes a black border, increasing the overall external dimensions by approximately 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for proper fitting. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires a 610 x 910 mm internal opening.
- Upstand Construction: The upstand (timber framework) should be constructed using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for a stable and secure base.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Place foam rope over the internal support baton to balance the weight and relieve pressure on the glass. Use Dowsil 791 black sealant for a watertight finish. Avoid acrylic sealants, as they are incompatible with this product.
- Flashing: Ensure flashing covers the full perimeter of the skylight. Each roll (7.5 metres) is suitable for up to 6 metres of total perimeter — for example, one roll is sufficient for a 1000 x 2000 mm skylight.
