Installation Recommendations
For a precise and professional installation, please follow these key guidelines:
- Dimensions: The top glass includes a black border that extends the external dimensions by 200 mm in every direction.
- Opening Preparation: Allow an extra 10 mm internally from upstand to upstand for accurate fitting. For instance, a 600 x 900 mm skylight should have a 610 x 910 mm opening.
- Upstand Construction: Build the upstand (timber frame) using 2×1 or 2×2 inch timbers to provide a stable and supportive base.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Apply foam rope on the internal supporting baton to balance the glass weight. Use Dowsil 791 black silicone sealant for a watertight perimeter. Avoid acrylic sealants, as they are not compatible with the skylight system.
