Installation Guidelines
- Internal Dimensions: The top pane features a black border, extending the unit’s external size by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for correct fitting. For example, a 600 x 900 mm unit requires a 610 x 910 mm opening.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for optimal support.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Use foam rope atop the supporting baton to balance weight and stress on the glass. Apply Dowsil 791 black sealant to create a watertight perimeter. Avoid acrylic sealants, as they are not compatible with this system.
- Flashing: Flashing must be installed around the full perimeter of the upstand. Each roll (7.5 metres) typically covers a skylight up to 6 metres in circumference, such as a 1000 x 2000 mm unit.
