Installation Guidance
- Internal Dimensions: The top pane includes a black border, extending the external dimensions by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (from upstand to upstand) to ensure a perfect fit. For instance, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires a 610 x 910 mm opening.
- Upstand Construction: Build the upstand (the timber framework supporting the skylight) from 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Use foam rope above the internal baton to balance weight and prevent glass stress. Apply Dowsil 791 black sealant for a watertight seal. Avoid acrylic sealants as they are not compatible.
- Flashing: Ensure flashing covers the full circumference of your skylight. Flashing rolls are supplied in 7.5-metre lengths—sufficient for skylights up to approximately 6 metres in perimeter (e.g. a 1000 x 2000 mm unit).
