Installation Guidelines
- Internal Dimensions: The top pane includes a black border, extending the external size by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an extra 10 mm internally (from upstand to upstand) to achieve a correct fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires an opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand (timber frame) using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for stability and accuracy.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Apply foam rope over the supporting baton to evenly distribute weight and reduce stress on the glass. Seal with Dowsil 791 black sealant to ensure a watertight finish. Avoid acrylic sealants, as they are not compatible.
- Flashing: Flashing should fully wrap around the upstand to create a weatherproof seal. Each roll measures 7.5 metres, sufficient for skylights up to approximately 6 metres in perimeter (e.g. a 1000 x 2000 mm unit).
