Installation Guidelines
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border, increasing the external size by approximately 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an extra 10 mm internally (from upstand to upstand) to ensure a precise fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires an opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: The upstand (timber framework) should be built using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for solid support.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Place foam rope on the internal baton to balance the weight and minimise stress on the glass. Apply Dowsil 791 black sealant around the upstand for a watertight finish. Avoid acrylic sealants as they are not compatible.
- Flashing: Ensure that flashing covers the full perimeter of the skylight. Each roll (7.5 metres) covers up to 6 metres of perimeter, suitable for units such as 1000 x 2000 mm skylights.
