Installation Recommendations
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane features a black border, extending the external size by approximately 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (from upstand to upstand) to achieve the correct fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires an opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for stable support and a precise fit.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Apply foam rope above the internal supporting baton to evenly distribute weight and prevent stress on the glass. Use Dowsil 791 black sealant to create a watertight seal around the upstand. Avoid using acrylic sealants, which are not compatible with this product.
- Flashing: The flashing must cover the full perimeter of the skylight. Flashing rolls are supplied in 7.5-metre lengths—sufficient for units with a total circumference of up to approximately 6 metres (e.g. a 1000 x 2000 mm skylight).
