Installation Recommendations
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border, extending the external dimensions by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an extra 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for accurate fitting. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight should have a 610 x 910 mm opening.
- Upstand Construction: Use 2×1 or 2×2-inch timbers to build a strong and reliable upstand frame.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Apply foam rope on top of the internal baton to balance weight and reduce stress on the glass. Seal using Dowsil 791 black-coloured sealant to ensure a watertight perimeter. Avoid using acrylic sealants, as they are not compatible with these units.
- Flashing: Proper flashing is essential to achieve a weatherproof seal. Each roll measures 7.5 metres, sufficient for one skylight with a total perimeter of up to 6 metres (e.g., a 1000 x 2000 mm skylight).
