Installation Guidelines
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass includes a black border, extending the external dimensions by approximately 200 mm on each side.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for a precise fit. For instance, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires an opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: Build the upstand using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timbers for strength and stability.
- Foam Rope and Sealant: Use foam rope on top of the supporting baton to balance the glass weight. Seal with Dowsil 791 black sealant to achieve a watertight finish. Avoid acrylic sealants as they are incompatible with this product.
- Flashing: Ensure the entire skylight circumference is sealed with flashing. A 7.5-metre roll typically covers one unit with a total perimeter of 6 metres (e.g., a 1000 x 2000 mm skylight).
