Installation Guidance
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane features a sleek black border, extending the external dimensions by 200 mm on each side.
- Creating the Opening: When preparing your installation, allow an additional 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for accurate fitting. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight should have an internal opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the timber upstand using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timbers to provide structural support.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Apply foam rope above the supporting baton to distribute weight evenly and minimise stress on the glass. Seal the perimeter with Dowsil 791 black sealant for a watertight finish. Note: Acrylic sealants should not be used as they are incompatible with the unit.
- Flashing: Use appropriate flashing to seal the full perimeter of the skylight. One 7.5-metre roll is typically sufficient for a skylight requiring 6 metres of coverage (e.g., 1000 x 2000 mm size).
