Installation Guidance
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border that extends the external measurements by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: When constructing the opening, allow an additional 10 mm internally from upstand to upstand for a precise fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight should have a 610 x 910 mm opening.
- Upstand Construction: Build the upstand using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for strength and accuracy.
- Foam Rope and Sealant: For a perfect seal, apply foam rope above the supporting baton to distribute the weight evenly. Use Dowsil 791 black sealant to ensure a watertight finish—avoid acrylic sealants, which are not suitable for use with these units.
- Flashing: The full perimeter of the skylight must be properly flashed. Flashing rolls are available in 7.5-metre lengths; one roll covers up to 6 linear metres, suitable for skylights up to 1000 x 2000 mm in size.
