Installation Recommendations
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border that extends the external dimensions by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally from upstand to upstand for a precise fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight requires an opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for a stable, accurate fit.
- Foam Rope and Sealant: Use foam rope on top of the supporting baton to distribute the load evenly and reduce stress on the glass. Apply Dowsil 791 black sealant for a watertight finish—avoid acrylic sealants.
- Flashing: Ensure the entire skylight perimeter is properly flashed. Each roll (7.5 metres) covers up to 6 linear metres—sufficient for skylights up to 1000 x 2000 mm.
