Installation Guidance
- Internal Dimensions: The top pane features a black border, extending the external size by approximately 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) to ensure an accurate fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm unit requires a 610 x 910 mm opening.
- Upstand Construction: Build the upstand (wooden framework) using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timbers for a stable and secure foundation.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Apply foam rope over the internal support baton to distribute weight evenly and reduce stress on the glass. Use Dowsil 791 black sealant to form a watertight perimeter. Acrylic sealants should not be used as they are incompatible.
- Flashing: Flashing must wrap around the entire upstand, sealing it to the roof tiles. Rolls come in 7.5-metre lengths — suitable for skylights up to approximately 6 metres in circumference (e.g. 1000 x 2000 mm units).
