Installation Guidance
To ensure a professional and secure installation, follow these key recommendations:
- Dimensions: The top glass includes a black border that extends the external dimensions by 200 mm in each direction.
- Opening Preparation: Allow an additional 10 mm internally from upstand to upstand for proper fitting. For example, a 600 x 900 mm unit requires a 610 x 910 mm opening.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand (timber framework) using 2×1 or 2×2 inch timbers for structural stability.
- Foam Rope & Sealant: Apply foam rope on top of the internal supporting baton to distribute glass weight evenly. Use Dowsil 791 black silicone sealant for a watertight seal. Acrylic sealants should not be used as they are incompatible with the skylight system.
