Installation Guidance
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border, extending the external dimensions by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for an accurate fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight should have a 610 x 910 mm opening.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for a secure and even frame.
- Foam Rope and Sealant: Apply foam rope on the internal supporting baton to distribute weight evenly and reduce pressure on the glass. Use Dowsil 791 black sealant to ensure a watertight seal—avoid acrylic sealants as they are incompatible.
- Flashing: Wrap the flashing around the upstand to form a complete weatherproof seal. One 7.5-metre roll covers up to approximately 6 linear metres, ideal for skylights up to 1000 x 2000 mm.
