Installation Guidelines
- Internal Dimensions: The top pane features a black border, extending the external dimensions by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for a perfect fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight should have a 610 x 910 mm internal opening.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timber for accuracy and stability.
- Foam Rope and Sealant: Apply foam rope on the support baton to balance weight and reduce stress on the glass. Use Dowsil 791 black sealant for waterproofing – avoid acrylic sealants.
- Flashing: Flashing should cover the full perimeter of the skylight. One 7.5-metre roll is typically enough for skylights up to 1000 x 2000 mm (approx. 6 linear metres).
