Installation Guidance
- Internal Dimensions: The top glass pane includes a black border, increasing external dimensions by 200 mm in each direction.
- Creating the Opening: Allow an additional 10 mm internally (upstand to upstand) for an accurate fit. For example, a 600 x 900 mm skylight should have an opening of 610 x 910 mm.
- Upstand Construction: Construct the upstand using 2×1 or 2×2-inch timbers for stability and precision.
- Foam Rope and Sealant: Use foam rope on the supporting baton to distribute weight evenly and prevent glass stress. Seal with Dowsil 791 black sealant for a watertight finish—avoid acrylic sealants.
- Flashing: Flashing should cover the full skylight perimeter. A single 7.5-metre roll will typically cover a skylight up to 1000 x 2000 mm (approx. 6 linear metres).
