Installation Guidance
For best results and a watertight finish, Rooflight Factory recommends the following installation practices:
- Dimension Note: The top pane features a black border, extending the external size by 200 mm in all directions.
- Opening Preparation: Allow an additional 10 mm internally from upstand to upstand for proper fitting. For example, a 600 x 900 mm unit requires a 610 x 910 mm internal opening.
- Upstand Construction: Build the upstand (timber framework) using 2×1 or 2×2 inch timbers to ensure robust support.
- Foam Rope and Sealant: Apply foam rope on the internal support baton to distribute the weight evenly. Seal the perimeter using Dowsil 791 black silicone sealant for a watertight finish. Acrylic sealants must not be used as they are incompatible with this glazing system.
